Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Important: Pounce Alerts is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Facebook, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates. "Facebook" and "Facebook Marketplace" are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc. References to Facebook Marketplace below describe the publicly available data our service monitors, not any relationship with Meta.

This Privacy Policy describes how Pounce Alerts (ABN 69 474 045 566) ("Pounce", "we", "us", "our", and accessible at pouncealerts.com), collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use our website and marketplace alert service (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide to us:

  • Account information — email address and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
  • Search preferences — search terms, cities, and price ranges you configure for alerts.
  • Optional contact details — a Telegram chat ID, if you choose to enable Telegram alerts.
  • Suggestions or feedback you submit to us, and an optional email address for follow-up.
  • Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing details are collected and processed directly by Stripe; we do not store your card details.

Information collected automatically:

  • Basic technical and usage data (e.g. IP address, browser type, request timestamps) for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.

Information we generate on your behalf:

  • Listings matching your search criteria, scraped from publicly accessible Facebook Marketplace pages, and the alerts we create from them.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including running scheduled searches and sending you alerts.
  • To create and manage your account, including authentication and two-factor security.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g. email verification, password resets, marketplace alerts).
  • To respond to suggestions, feedback, and support requests.
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable (e.g. for users in the EU/UK), we process your personal information on the basis of: performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service), and consent (e.g. for optional features like Telegram alerts).

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following service providers, as needed to operate Pounce:

  • Stripe — payment processing for paid subscriptions. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Our email provider — delivery of transactional emails (verification, password reset, alert digests) via SMTP.
  • Telegram — if you opt in to Telegram alerts, your alert content is sent to the Telegram chat ID you provide, via Telegram's Bot API.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pounce, our users, or the public.

Note on Facebook Marketplace data: the listing information shown in your alerts (titles, prices, images, links) is publicly available data we retrieve from Facebook Marketplace on your behalf. This is not personal information shared by Meta with us, and Pounce has no data-sharing relationship or affiliation with Meta Platforms, Inc.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage (bcrypt with a SHA-256 pre-hash), HTTPS in transit, and optional two-factor authentication for your account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Pounce is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most account information directly from your Account page, or contact us at admin@pouncealerts.com to exercise any of these rights, including full account deletion.

9. Do Not Track

Our Service does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

10. International Users

Pounce is operated from Australia and our service providers (including Stripe and our email provider) may process data in other countries. By using the Service, you consent to your information being processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made, and material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice where appropriate.

12. How to Review, Update, or Delete Your Data

You can review and update your search preferences and notification settings at any time from your Account page. To request a copy of your data, or to permanently delete your account and associated data, email us at admin@pouncealerts.com — we'll action your request within a reasonable timeframe.
